The Mensch Award
The Joshua M Katz Mensch Award honors a community member who exemplifies the qualities that defined Josh: kindness, humility, integrity, generosity, and a commitment to uplifting others
A mensch is someone who does the right thing not for recognition, but because it is who they are. This award celebrates the quiet helpers, the dependable supporters, and the individuals whose presence strengthens the community.
The award is presented at the memorial event honoring Josh’s life and legacy.
We would like to congratulate
Sarah Taitelman
The Joshua M Katz Mensch Awardee at our April 29, 2026 event.
Sarah was a clear choice exemplifying the qualities that defined Josh and how to be a mensch. Sarah puts her heart and energy into her home and community. She volunteers weekly at Perelman Jewish Day School serving lunch as Josh did. She is a monthly fixture at Jewish Relief Agency packing food and essential items for those facing hunger. Sarah is an active member in multiple philanthropic organizations including OROT, Jewish Federation and Jewish Learning Venture/jkidphilly. Sarah is also a proud Wexner Heritage Program fellow in the current Philadelphia cohort. Sarah’s true talent is her ability to bring together groups of people to build Jewish community in an authentic way.
We are happy to recognize Sarah Taitelman for the mensch that she is!
